Kasvihuone siirretty talviunille - Green house transferred to winter sleep

Kasvihuoneen kolmas kesä on nyt takana. Tomaatit eivät ehtineet kypsyä siellä. Otin ne olohuoneeseen kuivaustelineelle kypsymään. Poistin kasvulaatikoista osan mullasta pois. Pesin kasvihuoneen sisältä ja ulkoa. 

The third year of the green house is over now. The tomatoes stayed green and I took them home to get red. I removed part of the soil out of the wooden boxes. And cleaned the green house inside out.

Ehti sataa ensimmäisen lumen ennen kuin kasvihuone peitettiin pressulla ja sisälle laitettiin laudat pystyyn tukemaan rakenteita katolle kertyvän lumen varalta. 

It snowed the first snow before we covered it with a cover and put boards inside to support the structure of the green house in case it snows a lot. 

Samettiruusut kasvoivat vasta syyskuussa korkeiksi ja kukat olivat ihanan oransseja.

The velvet roses didn't grew up until on September but then they grew very high and the flowers were lovely orange,

Syksyisen metsän väriläikkä - Colour to the Autumn forest

Syksy alkaa hiipiä metsään. Haalistuneen metsän väriläikkänä näkyy ihanan punaiset pihlajanmarjat.

The Autumn is sneaking to the forest. The lovely red colour of the Rowan berries glow in the pale forest.

Nyt on kaikki perunat nostettu. Ne ovat todella laadukkaita, tasainen pinta ja maistuvat hyvältä.

Now all the potatoes have been harvested. They are really good, even surface and they taste good.

Satoa - Harvest time

Vihdoinkin onnistuin tomaattien kasvatuksessa niin, että sain ensimmäiset kypsät tomaatit. Latvominen siis kannatti. Myös uusi kurkku löytyi sekä herneitä. Ja sateet nostattivat taas muutamia kanttarelleja. Muistin myös antaa marjapensaille ja perennoille syyslannoituksen, joka jäi viime syksynä antamatta. Marjapensaat eivät vielä tuota satoa. Jollekin oli maistunut karviaismarjapensaan lehdet. Onneksi pensas ei siitä kärsinyt, kun kasvatti uudet lehdet. Tilasin Hyötykasviyhdistyksestä istutettavaksi tulppaanien, sorjalaukan, keltakoiranhampaan ja hentohelmilinjan sipuleita. Viime syksynä istuttamani sipulit eivät nousseet lainkaan. 

At last I succeeded in growing tomatoes since the first red ones appeared. So it was worth pinching the tomatoes. Also a new cucumber was found and some peas. And after the rain I found some new Chantarelles. I remembered to fertilize the berry bushes and the perennelials with Autumn fertilizer which I didn't give last Autumn. The berry bushes haven't offered any berries yet. Something has eaten the leaves of the gooseberry bush. Luckily it didn't suffer because there are new leaves already. I ordered from the online shop of the Association of Useful Plants some tulip, allium stipitatum, erythorium dens-canis and muscari botryoides album bulbs to be planted this Autumn. The bulbs I planted last Autumn didn't grow at all.

Ensimmäiset keltaiset kanttarellit - First yellow Chantarelles

Tänään löytyi mökiltä ensimmäiset keltaiset kanttarellit. Ne kasvoivat tarpeeksi kosteassa maastossa. Muualta ei kanttarelleja olekaan löytynyt kuivien säiden takia. Hyvältä ne maistuivat!

Today I found the first yellow Chantarelles at the cottage. They grew in the area which was moist enough. I haven't found any Chantarelles anywhere else and the reason for that is the dry weather. The Chantarells were delicious!

Ensimmäinen mansikka - First strawberry

Ensimmäinen mansikka on vihdoin kypsynyt. Maistui hyvältä. Löysimme viime viikonloppuna läheltä sattumalta paljon metsämansikoita. Ne vasta maistuvat hyviltä.

Kuumat säät ovat edistäneet tomaattien ja kurkkujen kasvua. Vihdoinkin kurkuissa on paljon kukkia. Toivottavasti kurkkujakin ehtii kypsyä. Kaikki kasvit näyttävät nyt runsailta. Kastelujärjestelmä sekä kasvihuoneen itseaukeavat ikkunat ovat olleet tarpeen. Nyt on hyvä aika jäädä lomalle!

Finally the first strawberry is ready. It tasted good. We found last week end nearby some forest strawberries and they tasted sweet.

The hot weather has promoted the growth of the tomatoes and the cucumbers. At last there are lots of flowers in the cucumbers. Hopefully we get some full grown ones. All the plants look so good now. The  watering system and automatic windows have been very useful at the green house. Now is good time to start the summer holiday!

Lumipalloheisi, angervo ja tomaatit kukkivat vihdoinkin - Viburnum opulus, red spiraea and the tomatoes are finally blooming

Vihdoinkin on ollut tarpeeksi lämmintä ja kasvihuoneessa tomaatit kukkivat ja yksi raakilekin on näkyvissä. Lehtisalaatti on kasvanut hyvin. Kurkkujen kasvu on ollut hidasta mutta jotain sentään on tapahtunut. Hernekin kasvaa melko hyvin. Puiset kasvilaatikot olivat hyvä ratkaisu.

Finally there has been warmn enough so that the tomatoes have flowers and there is even one small green tomatoe. The lettuce has grown rather well. The growth of the cucumbers has been slow but finally something is happening. The pea is bigger now. The wooden boxes were a good choice.

Istutin uusia kukkapensaita kasvihuoneen lähettyville, jos ne menestyisivät runkoruusuja paremmin. Lumipalloheisin ja punaisen angervon. Runkoruusuissa ei näy mitään kasvua. Harmi. Mansikka-amppelissa on jo raakile. Perunat kasvavat ulkona hyvin. Astioissa on kyllä liikaa taimia.

I planted new flower bushes (Viburnum opulus and red spiraea) outside the green house if they would have more success than the climbing roses which don't have any new beginnings. What a shame. The strawberry has already a green small strawberry. The potatoes are growing well outside. There are too many plants in the boxes.

Markettoja, pelargonioita ja kumisaappaita - margaritas, geraniums, rubber boots

Istutin lisää kukkia: valkoisia markettoja, punaisia pelargonioita sekä punaisia petunioita. Käytin astioina vanhoja, vuotavia kumisaappaita.Tänä kesänä tavoitteena saada paljon kukkivia kukkia.

Hankin myös valmiin tomaatintaimen rikkoutuneen tilalle sekä ruohosipulin taimen ja riippuvan mansikan taimen amppeliin. Amppelin laitoin perhosbaarin lähelle. Perhosia ei vielä ole baarissa näkynyt. 

Istutin myös vihdoin perunat. Tällä kertaa istutin ne ulos mustaa muovilaatikkoon sekä kahteen sankkoon.

I planted more flowers: white margaritas, red geraniums and red petunias. As a pot I used my old, leaking rubber boots. This summer the goal is to have lots of flowers. I bought also a new tomatoe plant, chive plant and hanging strawberry. I placed the strawberry near the butterfly bar. I haven't seen any butterflies at the bar yet.

I planted finally the potatoes too. This time I planted them outside in the black plastic boxes and two buckets.
